E-bikes have become our daily travelling companions, and proper maintenance can significantly extend their service life and ensure a smooth and safe ride every time. Here are some useful maintenance tips, with special reference to Bodywel brand e-bikes.
Clean the body regularly
After each ride, wipe the body with a damp cloth to remove dust, dirt and stains. Be careful to avoid water ingress in key areas such as the motor and battery.
Once a week, use a mild detergent and a soft-bristle brush to clean the frame, wheels, chain and other parts of the bike, and wipe it dry after washing.
Correct Battery Maintenance
Bodywel e-bike battery, charging environment temperature to keep at 0 ℃ – 45 ℃, avoiding high temperature or low temperature environment charging.
Don’t over-discharge the battery. Charge the battery in time when there is about 20% – 30% of power left. When not in use for a long period of time, recharge the battery every half a month.
Check the battery connection lines every 3-6 months to ensure that there is no looseness or corrosion.
Maintenance of chain and transmission system
After riding 100 – 150km, add lubricant to the chain to keep the chain smooth and reduce wear and tear.
Regularly check the chain tightness. The standard is to move up and down in 1 – 2 cm, too loose or too tight timely adjustment.
Check the wear and tear of the sprocket and flywheel once every 3-6 months, and replace them in time for serious wear and tear.
Maintenance of tyres
Check the air pressure of the tyres frequently, inflate them according to Bodywel’s instructions, and replenish them in time when the air pressure is insufficient.
Avoid rapid acceleration, rapid braking and high speed cornering to reduce tyre wear and damage.
Regularly check the surface of the tyre, clean up any foreign matter in time, and replace the tyre when it is badly worn or has bulges or cracks.
Braking system check
Before each ride, check the brake handle travel and brake effect, travel too large or brake failure timely adjustment or repair.
Regularly clean the brake discs and brake blocks to remove oil and dust to ensure braking performance.
Check the brake fluid level and piping every 3-6 months, add the fluid level is insufficient, and repair any leakage or damage to the piping in time.
Other parts
Regularly check the lights, horns, turn signals and other electrical components to ensure normal operation.
Check the connecting parts of the frame, fork and handlebar, and tighten them in time if there is any looseness.
Carry out comprehensive maintenance for the whole bike every 6 – 12 months, including inspection, adjustment and lubrication of all parts.
