How to troubleshoot charger and battery issues for my e-bike?
Is your e-bike failing to power up or refusing to take a charge? Battery and charger issues can be frustrating, but diagnosing them is straightforward if you have a multimeter and follow these steps.
Here is the 2026 guide to troubleshooting your Bodywel power system and getting back on the road.
Scenario 1: The Charger Light is RED, but the bike won't charge or turn on
When the charger light stays red, it usually indicates it is attempting to charge, but the power isn't reaching the cells correctly.
1. Test the Charger
Use a multimeter to check the charger’s output voltage.
The Symptom: Output voltage is low or fluctuates wildly.
The Diagnosis: Abnormal Charger.
The Fix: You need a new unit. Email the support team at support@bodywel.com to request a replacement charger.
2. Test the Battery & Switch
If the charger is fine, the issue lies within the battery or the wiring.
Test the Power Switch Line: Connect the power switch in series and check for voltage output.
Result A: There is voltage at the switch line? Your power switch cord is defective.
Result B: There is no voltage? The battery itself is defective.
Direct Battery Test: Use your multimeter to check the battery's output terminals directly. No voltage means the battery is dead.
The Fix: Contact support@bodywel.com for either a replacement power switch cord or a new battery.
Scenario 2: The Charger Light is GREEN, but the battery won't charge
A green light usually means "charged" or "disconnected." If your battery is empty but the light is green, the connection is broken.
1. Test the Charger Voltage
The Symptom: Use your multimeter to test the charger. If it shows zero voltage, the charger is faulty despite the green light.
The Fix: Reach out to support@bodywel.com for a charger replacement.
2. Inspect the Battery
Bodywel batteries are designed without internal fuses. If the charger is confirmed to be working (outputting voltage) but the battery still won't charge:
The Diagnosis: The battery is defective.
The Fix: Contact the after-sales team at support@bodywel.com to initiate a battery replacement.
